So who gets the money, where is the baby, and how were the holidays?

Well, since no one won the bet on when little Emmie would arrive the money will go to to the baby! I knew she was holding out for a reason...

I went to the doctor on New Year's Eve and we have created a plan. I go back for some testing on Monday, get admitted to the hospital Wednesday evening for some medicine and scheduled induction for Thursday Jan 8. Just so happens she would share a birthday with the King himself, Elvis, if born on Thursday.

The holidays were busy. We spent a lot of time with family and waiting... Tom and Benjamas were here and she is a fabulous cook. Brent officially loves Thai food. Only problem is he will now and forever compare everything to the authentic cooking of Benjamas. Spicy and delicious! Grammy Lene (my mom's mom) came to visit the day after Christmas. It was her will to get here and see the family, meet Benjamas, and be here for the baby's birth. New Years day brought on an unexpected situation. Grammy got very sick and went to the hospital. She passed away on Jan 2, 2009 at 5:30am. She left quickly, without pain and in complete peace. She spent quality time with us and family in Illinois before she left. Unfortunately she did not get the chance to meet Miss Emmarie Rose, whom she is named after. So as we have said, one Rose leaves and another Rose enters. God works in mysterious ways.

We will have a baby in less than one week, one way or the other! I can't believe it. It has felt like time is at a standstill. So we will update this with pictures and video soon. Stay tuned..

  • Dad- Dec 27 (OUT)
  • Mom- Jan 2 (OUT)
  • Tim- Dec 18 (OUT)
  • John- Dec 23 (OUT)

39 weeks, 2 days and no baby!

WELL, no baby yet! I look like I am as big as the Christmas tree. I don't know how much bigger my body can physically get. SO... needless to say I am ready for this ball to start rolling. Patience is key. I am doing my best. 5 days until the official due date, but we will take her when she decides to arrive. Tim is officially out of the running with the bets, but his money is still good!
Ps. New rule states if Emmie is born on a date that no one chose, she gets the pot!

Standstill

Well, the positives from my doctor's appointment are that the baby is healthy and enjoying her time in my belly. I think she has taken up residence and doesn't want to join us, atleast not yet. But, on the other hand still not dilated or effaced. The bottom line is it can happen anytime, regardless of what the doctor saw today.
SO... Tim's bet isn't looking so good right now. I will keep you posted. As for now, Emmie will continue to enjoy the chocolate milkshakes she gets regularly for just a little while longer. I guess I don't blame her!

A note from Uncle Santi- from Sept 22, 2008

Words of wisdom for Emmie:
1) Never, ever listen to your uncle Santi. I speak in tongues and half the time I don’t make sense.
2) Always remember your Irish heritage (AKA Notre Dame) it will make Daddy crazy and you can blame point 4 to it.
3) Boys are bad (till about you are 24, may be 23 but not younger).
4) Always remember to crash at uncle John’s when you get drunk.
5) Shopping is not just something that girls do, just silly girls do it (Daddy would appreciate this point). Don’t listen to Mommy to the contrary.
6) There is only one school in the country and it is not Northern Illinois (go dawgs!!!).
7) By the time you are 10 your father will claim that Commerce stadium should be name after him for his contributions to the team. His legend grows every year. Ask Jay Bird for the real story.
8) Remember to introduce all your friends to your Latin Lover cousin Mateo.
9) Although not in your blood, Argentina should be your second country (disregard paint 2 when on nationality conflict).
10) Finally, all affairs of the heart should be shared your best friend Mommy.

What the doctor said today...

In a nut shell, NOTHING. I am not dilated, effaced, etc. So, I guess Brent is safe to travel tomorrow. I tried to complain, but apparently you are not supposed to be comfortable or be able to sleep in the last few weeks of pregnancy. I guess it wasn't the first time she had heard any of these same complaints. So, I will be working out, doing jumping jacks, cat stretches, going to eat eggplant parmesean at Scalleni's- anything to help speed up this process! Wish me luck.

Only Ultrasound

20 weeks... If I only have one piece of advice, ask the doctor for a better picture than just her feet! They are cute feet, but Brent thinks they may look like Papa Kirley's feet- mulitple knuckles and long! Let's hope for cute and small~ But most of all, we are just happy thre are 10 toes all together!
