Turning 30

Well, I meant to post this on or near my birthday, but I guess I am not too far off. Turning 30 wasn't exactally all it is cracked up to be. 29 weeks pregnant. No party. And literally tipping the scales. Not something everyone can say they did on their 30th.

But no complaints. I have to remember I took a great trip to Puerto Rico with all my girlfriends last year to celebrate. We had a blast.

Emmie took me to breakfast at JCristopher's. She was a sweetheart to me all day. That was a gift in itself!

Brent took me to a fabulous dinner at diPaolo. If you have never been there and enjoy some Italian food, I highly reccomned. I have been there before and it is never a disappointment. We sat at the Godfather table too. That made me feel pretty special. I thought I could try to hide the baby bump, but without advertising the waiter immediately started telling me how all the cheeses were pasteurized, blah, blah, blah... Bummer. I did order a glass of wine- don't judge. Just one. I thought it was a special occasion. Brent monitored me the entire time. He didn't even let me finish the entire thing. What I did have was delicious though.

The girls took me to a nice casual dinner at Treehouse on Thursday. There were 3 preggars at the table so it was probably the most calm birthday dinner we have ever had. I ate the world, including the gigantic brownie they brought at the end.

All in all, not bad. And on top of everything I have a bundle of joy to expect in the next 2 months. A pretty good birthday indeed. Calm and sane, but perfect.

It is hard to believe where I am in life on my 30th. A beautiful daughter and another one on the way. A fabuolous husband. A healthy and happy family. And the greatest friends.

28 weeks, the second time around

Warning, this post has no pictures :(

We tend to become entirely consumed by our little monster, aka. Emmie, that we have somehow let me get to 28 weeks pregnant and not much has been done for our 2nd child. Yes, we finally have a name, but we need to sit on it for some time and try it out before we brand her with it. We are more than half way there and not a thing has been done. Luckily, we are having them close together so I don't feel the need to be over the top as I most likely was the first time. And having another girl is great because we have mostly everything. The only bad thing is that they are being born in different seasons. It is funny. During my first pregnancy I couldn't have documented it more. Every month a picture, every doctor visit a note. I feel like I, or should I say "we", should start paying a bit more attention to our little bean.

Pregnancy the second time around...
  • I don't watch what I eat. I eat turkey sandwiches, any kind of cheese, fish, etc. The DO NOT eat list that was quite long the first time has majorly shrunk. I won't do anything to harm my bean, but I simply am not as anal as I was the first time around.
  • No napping allowed!!!! I should put this in all caps. Good luck. Sometimes I may sneak one if Emmie is at "school", but I am usually cleaning, working, laundry, etc.
  • Working out= running around after your toddler. I used to walk with my girlfriends in the neighborhood. I don't get a chance to do that anymore. My walks are usually at nap time with Emmie in the stroller. Lately, she has hated being tied down making stroller usage very difficult. My friend Nicole can atest to this as she witnessed one of the worst tantrums in history recently. When I was pregnant with Emmie I kick boxed, swam, walked and ran. This time, yeah right! Going to the gym is not as easy as it once was.
  • Everything starts sooner. Weight gain, maternity clothes, pelvic pain, cravings, big boobs, and all the other things I will choose not to write about. Apparently you show sooner too. I had a guy in a maternity store guess I was in my second pregnancy because "I was BIGGER than most women who are in their 1st pregnancy at 7 months". Wow, thanks guy! And might I add, why is he working in a maternity store, hmmm...
  • Everything is more exaggerated. Weight gain, pelvic pain, cravings, etc....
So this is a big week for me. I went to the doctor today and had a massive weight gain in 2 weeks. The funny thing is that it is the exact same week that I had my big weight gain with Emmie. Nonetheless, I had a MASSIVE weight gain. The doctor wasn't worried and I am actually weighing in 1 pound less at this time than I was with Emmie. Not too shabby. On top of being pregnant and the weight gain, I have a milestone birthday. I guess this birthday will be much tamer than most. That is ok though. All for the good of the bean.

Music Class

Emmie started a Music class a few weeks ago. She loves it! She gets to play with her friend Fannie B every Wednesday.
You have to check it out and try it too! The little ones love it!
I am not as good as Mrs. Kyle, so I will redirect you to her page to check out some pics of Emmie and Fannie from this past week.

Easter 2010

Easter was spent at the beach this year. Kind of weird, but no complaints. No pics in front of the azaleas this year. I thought I would share a couple pics with you. We had an Easter Egg Hunt at Emmie's "school". She loved every second of it. Yes, She is wearing sneaks with her dress. She had to be ready to run for the eggs, duh!

She was also so happy to see the Easter Bunny visited her at the beach.

Beach trip 2010

We just returned from our Kirley family beach trip. We went to Saint George Island and had the best time. We stayed in an absolutely fabulous house right on the beach. We had great weather and had an even more fun! Pictures are plenty, especially since I have been practicing my new photography skills. So, I hope you enjoy!

Walking with Daddy on the beach
Hangin' out at the pool. She is obsessed with bananas right now!

I love this one. She was a bit "testy" this morning. I attempted to put her hair in pigtails so it wouldn't be such a mess all day. I only got one in successfully, so the rest of her hair had to go in a bow. She wouldn't let me take the one pigtail out. Needless to say, we did not attempt anymore pigtails for the week.
She thinks she is pretty funny. This is Emmie "mooning" the camera!

Ode to the John Deer hat. Of course I bought her the cutest sun hat to wear. She wouldn't have anything to do with it. Brent had this one and it was the only hat she would keep on all week. She became a bit attached to it. It made an appearance in most of my pictures!
Check out the sunrise from the bedroom balcony! Yes, I was up early enough to see the sun rise. I suppose sometime in the next few years I may be able to sleep in past 7am.

Sunscreen application was hell! So we came up with a method. She got to put some on Daddy and then he got to put some on her. Whatever works.... honestly!

I got my face out from behind the camera to get a pic of Mommy and Emmie!

I was trying to get some cute ones. It was right before nap time. Can you tell she was tired? Oh and the shoes... She did not like the sand on her feet. If we were at our private pool she was fine without the shoes, but once we hit the beach... they had to be on!
This is Emmie's play friend, Shea. Her daddy and Tim, my brother and Emmie's Uncle, are best friends. They joined us and were a blast.

It was close to bedtime and one boo-boo turns into a drama masterpiece. Daddy was there to wipe the tears. Mommy was there to take a picture, haha!
This was the dress I made for her (Amy- don't be alarmed, I am not stealing business :). I am simply trying to be a bit domesticated. They quality doesn't compare to brownie-goose!)

Daddy taught her to fly a kite. She kept letting it go, but she loved it!

I love this one. McCay was "sunbathing" (in his own words) just hanging out on the boardwalk watching the kite fly. Ahh, the simple things in life.

More oysters than you can imagine were consumed. Not by the preggers, mostly the boys. McCay even had a few! He is so brave!

Emmie and Papa watching the birds fly by.

This was the best. Everyday she fell asleep in Brent's arms on the beach right before nap time. She was worn out ever day!

Playing "this little piggy" with Papa and the cousins.

Just cruising down the boardwalk.

McCay and Noelle. Isn't this such a sweet bro/sis moment. Connor didn't get around my camera enough.
I can't believe I am posting this for mine or my brother, John's sake. But hilarious nonetheless! 27 weeks and counting. I can't believe I shoved this bod in a bikini. Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Just one beautiful sunset...

The house lit up at night, from the back.

The last night bonfire. How great that they allow campfires on the beach at night!

The "boys" at the fire. If you can only imagine the conversations... They also did some crabbing and caught a few too!

What a great time. It is so hard to come back to the real world, especially when you have to battle spring break traffic on the way home! ugh!
