Emmie is 3 weeks old!

WOW- time is flying by way too fast! I feel like we just brought her home yesterday. She is so cute and we are starting to figure her out, or she is figuring us out, not sure which. She has gotten on a bit of a routine. She eats about every 3 hours and at night may go 4 hours inbetween feedings. We are spoiled on those nights. I only have 4 weeks left of maternity leave. The thought of leaving her kills me. As of right now we are in a bit of a daycare dilemma. We may have to look at nanny possibilities too. I hope to figure things out soon! It sure would take some pressure off my shoulders.
Emmie has ventured out to some resteraunts. We went to a hibachi grill last Friday. Probably not the safest place to take the new one, but she did really well and didn't get smoked out or torched! I will have to get the picture from Trish and post it. She was real sweet. And it was nice to socialize with our friends outside of our house!

We dressed her up in her Christmas outfit she never got to wear.

She found a new spot to cat nap...

...and is making a habit of it!

Sleeping beauty. Babies sleep ALOT!

Striking a pose after her bath. As you can see she is not missing any meals!

We had a photo shoot on her 3 week birthday. Her outfit is real cute, but doen't fit fully yet.

Trying to talk to the camera.

Papa came by to visit!

Emmie is 2 weeks old!

Week 2 has flown by. We are attemting to start a routine. Emmie is making it about 3-4 hours between feedings at night. It is nice to catch a couple hours of shut eye! Mom is still super tired. I am trying to take the advice of 'sleep when she sleeps'. But it truely is hard to sleep during the day sometimes. I need to get better at taking naps. Brent went back to work this week. Emmie and I are trying to adjust being alone with Champ all day. So far we are handling everything fine. Nana came to visit this week as did Mimi. She loves her grandmas! Emmie and I were finally able to get out for a walk yesterday since the temperature has warmed up a bit. Champ gaurded us for the entire walk. Let's see what week 3 brings!

Cute as pie!

Our first outing

Emmie Meets Locos
We decided to venture out of the house on Saturday afternoon. How perfect that our first outing happens to be at her daddy's favorite hang out... Locos. She didn't eat wings or drink Sweetwater, but I am sure that will come in time. It was good to get out of the house even if it was for only an hour.

Emmie's first week

Well... the first week has flown by. Sleepless nights, followed by lazy days. Emmie has done pretty good for the most part. She is nursing about every 2-3 hours, manageable on my part. Brent tried to get away with not changing diapers, but needless to say... he learned quickly. She is starting to do better at night. We have somehow managed to space about 3-3.5 hours in between feedings. We have had many visitors. Emmie has met so many of our friends. She is so sweet, we just love every little squeak and smile. I will let you know how week 2 goes.

First pediatrician visit

We actually made it there on time for a 9:45 appointment in Little 5 Points. Amazing! As this was our first official outing, I learned we definitely need to give ourselves some extra time to get EVERYONE ready. I was trying to get Emmie dressed and this was the first of many times we had to put multiple outfits on her to find the right one. She is actually a little too small for most of her clothes right now. This will change fast. She has a couple outfits that fit her well. She will probably outgrow these in the next few weeks. About 30 minutes before we needed to leave Emmie needed to be nursed. It was speed nursing, as we had to get going to make it on time. She enjoyed the car ride, I think. She was wide awake for the trip and very alert for her doctor. She totally made a name for herself during her exam. As we were getting her naked and about to take off her diaper for the doctor, she blew it up. The loudest fluffer yet! Atleast the doctor knows what he is getting himself into with her. Haha! She got a clean bill of health. She now weighs 7 pounds. She weighed 6 pounds 14 ounces at birth and 6 pounds 7 ounces as we left the hospital. She is obviously eating well as she has gained about 8-9 ounces since then (dirty diaper may have added an ounce or 2). No shots yet. Those come at her 2 month visit. Our pediatrician is awesome. Dr. Victor Polizos. He is the only doctor in the practice. We got there, were the only ones in the waiting room, went right back and received such great attention. Worth the drive, which really isn't that bad. We go back in 1 month for a check up.
Getting ready to go. Mom and Dad were tired!

Happy Birthday Emmarie Rose Nichols

Meet the new Nichols Family

She arrived Jan 8, 2009 at 5:30 pm. 6 pounds, 14 ounces. 18.5 inches long. It was a long day of labor, but ended in a quick and fairly easy delivery. She is happy and healthy. We arrived home on Saturday and she loves it here. Champ is handling the new addition quite well so far.

Cute as a button after her first bath!
Proud new parents!

Mommy just gave me my bath, how cute!

Getting ready to go home!

First car seat ride.

At home with my dog, Champ.

So cute. I am so glad to finally be here!

Happy Birthday John and Dad!

Dad, aka Papa- Jan 3rd

John- December 27th

So who gets the money, where is the baby, and how were the holidays?

Well, since no one won the bet on when little Emmie would arrive the money will go to to the baby! I knew she was holding out for a reason...

I went to the doctor on New Year's Eve and we have created a plan. I go back for some testing on Monday, get admitted to the hospital Wednesday evening for some medicine and scheduled induction for Thursday Jan 8. Just so happens she would share a birthday with the King himself, Elvis, if born on Thursday.

The holidays were busy. We spent a lot of time with family and waiting... Tom and Benjamas were here and she is a fabulous cook. Brent officially loves Thai food. Only problem is he will now and forever compare everything to the authentic cooking of Benjamas. Spicy and delicious! Grammy Lene (my mom's mom) came to visit the day after Christmas. It was her will to get here and see the family, meet Benjamas, and be here for the baby's birth. New Years day brought on an unexpected situation. Grammy got very sick and went to the hospital. She passed away on Jan 2, 2009 at 5:30am. She left quickly, without pain and in complete peace. She spent quality time with us and family in Illinois before she left. Unfortunately she did not get the chance to meet Miss Emmarie Rose, whom she is named after. So as we have said, one Rose leaves and another Rose enters. God works in mysterious ways.

We will have a baby in less than one week, one way or the other! I can't believe it. It has felt like time is at a standstill. So we will update this with pictures and video soon. Stay tuned..
